Yes, you get everything back, and our transfer does not damage your film in any way.
Yes, we transfer 8mm film using high-definition equipment at 1080P, which is more than adequate to capture all the detail in 8mm and Super 8 film. Some may ask why not use 2K or 4K resolution? The answer is that 8mm and Super 8 film are low resolution, low frame rate formats that will not look any better or more detailed by using higher resolution settings. And the resulting file sizes would be much larger and require us to charge extra for our USB’s, which are included in our transfer prices.
The following footage is from actual film transfers done for real customers. Your film may look better or worse depending on several factors. Clip #1 is Regular 8mm Film and Clip #2 is Super 8 Film. (Note that all video hosting platforms, even high quality ones like Vimeo, lose a bit of resolution versus the raw uploaded files).
We include the sound at no extra charge.
Yes, we keep an archive of your movie film transfer footage for 2 months. This is for your protection and convenience in case you want additional copies of your transfer at a later date or in the very unlikely event that your return shipment is delayed or lost
We repair it during our transfer at no extra charge.
This is very common. For 5-inch, 6- inch and 7-inch reels which are not full, we charge only for the actual amount of film on the reels.
For mail order customers outside our local area, our ordering process is fairly simple. First complete our order form and print it out, along with our shipping address. Next, box your 8mm and Super 8 film reels and enclose your printed order form... please don’t use an envelope or padded mailer. Tape all box seams then ship your order to us using the carrier of your choice. Once received, we will email you an invoice for payment. We will complete your order and ship it back to you, usually within two weeks!
For local customers it’s even easier... just drop by our location in Tyler Monday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm and we will take care of everything.
If stored in reasonable conditions, 8mm and Super 8 film is almost always suitable for transfer. If you inspect your film and find it lying flat on the reel and not stuck together, it should be in good shape, even if the leader is brittle or broken. That said, just because your film can be transferred doesn’t mean it will be perfect. Out-of-focus scenes, debris in the camera when the film was exposed, overexposed or underexposed film and other issues are very common and a transfer can only correct minimally for these types of problems.
We may not be able to do the transfer; it just depends on how badly the film is curled.
